In the snap (which has since been deleted) Hennessey appears to be making the infamous ‘Sieg Heil’ gesture which was used as a greeting in Nazi Germany. However, he moved quickly to deny that is the case in a post on hisofficial Twitter page.“Yesterday evening I had a meal with my team mates and we had a group photograph,” he wrote on Sunday night.“I waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it and at the same time put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry. The original picture is no longer on Meyer’s Instagram story3

“Its been brought to my attention that frozen in amoment by the camera this looks like I am making a completely inappropriate type of salute.“I can assure everyone I would never ever do that and any resemblance to that kind of gesture is absolutely coincidental. Hennessey began the season as Palace’s first choice glovesman, though he has recently lost his place in the starting XI with boss Roy Hodgson preferring Vicente Guaita since the middle of December. The Welshman was recalled for Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Grimsby, however, and he played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 victory. The London club are currently in 14th place in the Premier League.
